Team building is critical to great leadership
In team building, you need three very important relationships, viz;
Confidants, constituents and comrades
CONFIDANTS
Great leaders have confidant
You can’t be a great leader without having somebody you can talk to,
somebody you can be honest and be true to, saying; “this is who I am”,
somebody with whom you can be transparent and honest. If you have three
confidants in a life time, you have done really well
Your confidants are with you in all situations, when you go up and when you
come down, when things are good and when things are bad, when you are the
star and when nobody remembers you
There is no pressure to impress your confidant, you can be beside yourself
before your confidant, you don’t even need to look great before your
confidant
The real reason you are tired of people around you is because you want to
relax, you are never tired of a confidant because you can relax in their
presence
Your confidant is only committed to you and not to your assignment. Your
confidant is with you because of you not because of your assignment.
Confidant is about your relationship not your assignment
CONSTITUENTS
This relationship is because of your assignment
Your constituents are primarily with you because of the assignment and not
you
Confidant and constituent do same thing but for different reason…it’s about
you or about the assignment
You must be able to work with people who come and go…Constituents come and
go
Don’t get bitter over people who leave you
