“That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.” (Daniel 2: 18)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
Our Focal Scripture speaks of that moment when Daniel and his friends sought the mercies of God so that they would not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Daniel sought the mercies of God so that he would not face what the wise men of Babylon were about to face; he sought the mercies of God so that his case would be different from the case of the wise men of Babylon. Friend, by the mercies of God, your case will be different from others in ‘Babylon’.
By the mercies of God, you will not be caught in the same tragedies of those around you; by the mercies of God, you will not suffer what others suffered; by the mercies of God, you will not go down like others; by the mercies of God, the health challenges that befell others will not befall you; by the mercies of God, you will be divinely exempted from evil; by the mercies of God, Covid-19 will not be your lot. There was a decree from the king, to kill all the wise men of Babylon, including Daniel and his friends, but Daniel sought the mercies of God, that the king’s decree will not be their reality. So, Daniel sought the mercies of God to overrule the king. Hear me as I hear the Lord: the mercies of God will speak for you and overrule the kings of this world; the mercies of God will silence every king’s decree against you.
God showed mercy upon Daniel and his friends, but they had to seek for the mercy first. They sought for mercy and they obtained mercy. Seek for God’s mercies concerning the areas of your life where you need mercy; seek for God’s mercy in your career, family, business, ministry, marriage, finances, etc; seek for the mercies of God in the face of growing global challenges; seek for the mercies of God as you push for higher grounds.
Access the mercies of God that is freely given; where judgement prevails over others, mercy shall prevail for your sake. Hebrews 4: 16 says: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”Declare With Me: Mercy shall prevail for my sake, in Jesus’ name!
