Abiara, the well known general evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), has retired according to the church and its lay down constitution.
The Supreme Council of the Christ Apostolic Church has named Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji as the new General Evangelist of the church. This is coming after the retirement of Prophet Samuel Abiara, who recently attained the age of 75.
Oladeji was an evangelist at CAC Canaanland until his appointment by the Supreme Council, the church’s highest governing body, which comprises of all principal officers, all Assistant General Superintendents and other senior officers.
Sources in the church told our correspondent that there were usually three candidates for the position, from which the Supreme Council would choose one, “based on the leading of the Holy Spirit.”
Meanwhile, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Friday night, Abiara, who heads the Agbala Itura Worldwide, said he was grateful to God for a successful tenure.
He said, “I’m happy. I’m very happy and I thank God for His grace. In the rules of the church, when you clock 75, you retire, and that was what happened. I was even one of those who announced him as the new General Superintendent. So, I’m happy.”
