Church Leaders Seek Nigeria, Africa’s Transformation

Church News

A call has been made by a Lagos based non-governmental organization, Rehoboth Foundation, for leaders in Africa to seek an all inclusive and realistic initiatives that would lead to massive transformation of the continent as soon as possible.

This call was made recently in Lagos, during the unveiling of the maiden edition of Inspiring Initiatives, a project which seek to strongly affirm that change will indeed come to Africa when certain factors are fully complied with by everyone.

Speaking on behalf of the organization, Pastor Olumide Olugbenle, President of Rehoboth Foundation, and lead pastor of Rehoboth International Church, Lekki, affirms,

“For national change to occur, we need a critical mass of change agents or transformative change initiatives.

“A three man soccer team will find it almost impossible to defeat a well organised opponent, therefore a critical mass of change agents is a fundamental critical success factor in each nation of Africa. For a critical mass to be reached, you typically need between 5% and 25% of the population.

This factor and others will be brought to light and our project serve as catalysts to get elites mobilized and trained to pursue initiatives that will transform nations, sphere by sphere and family by family, through transformational leadership.”

Olugbenle said all across Africa, elites, who ideally should be at the fore of change are frustrated at the level of backwardness that permeates the continent. He said despite the massive investments in various change programmes and capacity building efforts, the question that still keeps getting asked is “Will Africa transform?”

“Our goal is therefore to encourage as many as possible to start up initiatives till we achieve 1.8million initiatives. As many will die off as a result of oppositions, lack of rigor and required discipline of focus, perseverance and synergy, but we will actively support many to be sustainable and effective thereby adding to the desired critical mass.”

The event was attended by Professor Vincent Anigbogu of Pan-African initiative Institute for National Transformation, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, Senior Pastor at the Fountain of Life Church, Lagos.
