Gospel musician El Mafrex’s most recent release, “Christ Obong,” takes listeners on a moving trip back to his origins.
A fervent expression of affection for the King, Jesus Christ. Christ Obong, which translates to “Christ, the King” in Akwa Ibom State‘s Ibibio dialect, is a modern take on a beloved classic gospel tune.
El Mafrex is moved by recollections of his early years and remembers singing the original version with his grandmother, which was a joyful, energetic, and spiritually enriching moment.
He says, “This song reminds me of the good old days when my grandmother used to sing and dance.”
The song is meant to be a straightforward sing-along.
