More than 1,500 messages have poured in following an appeal for prayers after gospel singer James Fortune in the US was reportedly involved in an auto crash.
Writing to his followers on the social media website Instagram, James Fortune, said: “Family, I’m sore but I’m alive! Jesus spared my life.”
“Thank you so much for your prayers, love and support. I’m so grateful! I’ll be back soon. Let’s all love and forgive. Tomorrow is not promised! God bless you all!”
A statement previously posted online on the webpage told fans he was involved in a collision while on his way to church.
It read: “Please pray for our brother James Fortune who on his way to church tonight was hit by a drunk driver in a four car accident.
“God spared his life and he is responsive. Pray for a speedy recovery. God Bless You and thanks for the prayers!”
James Fortune is a three-time Stellar Award winner, 9 time ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) award-winning songwriter and the president of his own label, FIYA World Music, which is based in Houston.
It remains unclear when and where the alleged car crash happened, and how police have been responding.
