📖 Scripture for Today
“This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
— Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)
✝️ Devotional Message
There is something powerful about the way this scripture is written. Notice it doesn’t say, “If things go well today, rejoice.” Or “When your prayers are answered, be glad.” The Psalmist makes the decision to rejoice before a single event of the day has unfolded. The rejoicing comes first — not as a response to circumstances, but as a declaration of faith.
This is the Wommack principle at its core: joy is not the fruit of your circumstances. Joy is the fruit of the Spirit — and the Spirit lives in you, unchanging, regardless of what your Monday morning looks like. You carry a well of gladness that the world did not give you and the world cannot take away.
Today is a Sunday — the Lord’s Day. The day the Church has gathered across centuries to declare that death did not win, that the tomb is empty, and that the same power that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us. This day was made — crafted, designed, appointed — by the Lord. Not by your schedule. Not by your plans. Not by your past week. By God Himself.
Flourish Peters often teaches that praise is a weapon. When you open your mouth and declare “I will rejoice in this day,” you are not being naive — you are being spiritually violent. You are telling depression: not today. You are telling anxiety: you have no authority here. You are telling discouragement: I choose joy over you.
Whatever this week brought — whatever you are carrying into this Sunday — set it down for a moment. This is the day the Lord has made. It was made with you in mind. It was made with purpose. It was made with possibility. And you were made to inhabit it with rejoicing.
Lift your hands. Open your mouth. Let the praise come out — not because everything is perfect, but because He is. And that is more than enough reason to be glad.
🙏 Prayer for Today
Lord, I choose today. I choose to rejoice in this Sunday You have made for me. I lay down every weight, every worry, and every weariness, and I pick up Your joy — the joy that is my strength. Thank You for this day. Thank You for life. Thank You for the empty tomb that makes every Sunday a celebration. I worship You today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
