An unusual thing happened in Israel : a massive dust storm loomed over the border facing Syria but stopped right at the boundary and did not move forward, literally forming a pillar of cloud that protected them from ISIS.
The phenomenon was reported by Israeli soldiers who clashed with ISIS on the Golan Heights last week. They were also able to record a video of what they called the “hand of Hashem,” or the hand of God intervening for their sake, which was posted on the Facebook page of Israel News Online.
Many people likened the phenomenon to the miracles God performed during Old Testament times when He rescued Israel from its enemies. One such instance was when God put a pillar of cloud to protect the Israelites from the Egyptians who were chasing them after they left Egypt and abandoned their lives of slavery.
The Israeli soldiers who witnessed the storm at the border claimed it was not just a storm of dust, but included cloud and rain as well.
“A weather phenomenon occurred at 8am Thursday on the other side of the Syrian border, in the same place where ISIS attacked Israel,” Israel News online reported. “This strange storm of what appears to be dust, cloud and rain did NOT cross the border fence into Israel. It sat like a barrier between ISIS and Israel.”
Jews believe the miracle was a form of “divine intervention.”
On Nov. 27, ISIS fighters reportedly opened fire on Israeli soldiers along the buffer zone separating Israel from Syria in the southern Golan heights. This was the first direct clash between Israeli soldiers and ISIS.
Israeli Air Forces saw a car loaded with a heavy machine gun a few hundred meters from the border and eliminated the threat. Reports say four people in the car were killed, according to Haaretz.
The attacks came from Shuhada al-Yarmouk, an organization that swore allegiance to ISIS. This year, the organization joined another group that is also associated with ISIS and changed its name to Jish Khaled Ibn al-Walid.
Israel feared the clash with the ISIS group would escalate and open a new front in the area.
But God had other plans. A few days following the attack, He formed a storm that appeared to be unmoving at the border, covering Israel and protecting the soldiers. The storm never entered Israel and only affected the other side of the border.
The miracle served as a reminder to the Jews that God has not forgotten them and will continue to protect them from their enemies.
