Anger (Rage / Fury)
An Emotion reacting to unexpected attitudes, responses and actions from our friends, Spouses, siblings e.t.c
Bitterness
Nursed anger, simply put: we develop the anger into hurts and offences, here we get personal. Our thoughts are the breeding ground. We find it difficult to let go in our imaginations. It’s no spectacular feeling, we create it. At times we justify it by reiterating what happened.
Evil speaking / Malice
Sermons about our hurts couched in sanctimoniously judging the other party. This is spreading the ‘gospel‘ of our offences to others. We evangelize to siblings, other friends, family, neighbours, Facebook, blogs e.t.c. We aim to win souls for ourselves; I mean supporters.
Hatred
The End point! Hardly do we admit we have this. But it’s the real end product of all said above. We start wishing evil, we don’t want our “offender” to be blessed, favoured etc.
Now, let’s observe Jesus’ authority over these “snakes and scorpions”.
Forgiveness – It’s called letting go in your thoughts, words and actions towards the offender.
Prayer – You pray for the well-being and blessings of the offending party (Matthew 5 : 44 – 35)
Kindness – You demonstrate forgiveness through gifts of kind words, material things and offering help.
Restoration – The end result of all forgiveness
Check out what God did for us in Christ!
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tender hearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
By the way: You can’t practice in marriage what you don’t value outside it. If you won’t learn to forgive siblings, friends and colleagues, you won’t know how to act forgiveness towards your spouse and in your home.
We Win!
