on location Call For EntriesThe On Location: MEMPHIS International Film & Music Fest is ready to showcase the best in both local and international filmmaking again in 2015, with the Call for Entries scheduled to open on January 1.

Filmmakers from Memphis to Mozambique and everywhere in between are invited to submit their works to be considered for the 2015 edition of On Location: MEMPHIS. The festival consists of five filmmaking categories – Feature, Documentary, Live Action Short, Animation, and Music Video. The films will be screened in one of the world’s most important and interesting creative cities, which has been called everything from “The Birthplace of Rock & Roll” to “The Home of the Blues.” The winning filmmaker in each category will also take home a coveted miniature Airstream trailer trophy, an award that has become one of the most prized on the festival circuit.

This year On Location: MEMPHIS will move from late April to Labor Day weekend on September 3-6. Films will once again be showcased at Malco Studio on the Square in Memphis’s historic Overton Square neighborhood. The new dates allow more time for filmmakers to complete projects and give Memphians an opportunity to end the summer by taking in some of the globe’s best independent filmmaking.

All films should be submitted via Withoutabox; four different deadlines are available. The early bird deadline is slated for the end of February, with the regular deadline taking place on April 15. The late option is May 15, with the Withoutabox late deadline scheduled for June 1. Pricing corresponds to the deadline date and genre of film submitted, however, all fees are $55 or less. Special discount packs are also available. Films do not have to be a premiere but should not have a distribution deal in place.

In addition to film screenings, musicians working in categories ranging from rock to jazz to hip hop make up the music portion of the festival, while panels and seminars covering a variety of topics in the film arena are presented by some notable professionals.
