Rhapsody Of Realities: Let The Word Have Power Over Your Life

Rhapsody -Growing By The Word

Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all (1 Timothy 4:15).

The Word of God has a ministry in our lives, and this is something that needs to be emphasized in the body of Christ. The Christian ought to be voracious for the Word. You have to always open your heart and mind to the Word to build, strengthen, and establish you permanently to enjoy all that God has made available to you in Christ. We read the Apostle Paul’s admonition to the young man Timothy, saying, “Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them….” What things was he referring to?

In the preceding chapters, Paul had shared specific and vital truths from God’s Word with Timothy; it was those revelations he urged him to meditate upon. If the Spirit thought it fit to give Timothy such vital counsel through the Apostle Paul, then it’s equally befitting to us today. We’re to constantly meditate on the revelation of God’s Word that we’ve received.

Notice also that he said to him, “…give thyself wholly to them….” That means let the Word have power over your life. Let it dominate your thinking, influence your words, and actions. This is something you do consciously; a deliberate response, initiated from your spirit to the Word of God. The result of this is that your “profiting” will appear to all. The Greek word translated “profiting” is “prokope,” which means furtherance, progress, or advancement. This means your progress becomes apparent when you let the Word have the dominion in your life. Furthermore, the phrase, “may appear,” also in our opening verse, means more than something coming casually into sight; the Greek term is “Phaneros,” which means, “to spread abroad.” Your success and prosperity will “spread abroad,” become widely and openly known, as you meditate on the Word of God. What a blessing!

Prayer: Dear Father, My progress and advancement are evident and unstoppable. I’m prospering in all that I do, because I live in, and by the Word, inspired always by the Holy Spirit to produce excellence. Thank you for your wisdom that propels me to act on your Word always, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
