Internationally renowned, Nigerian gospel music artist and minister, Emeka Igbonekwu who is popularly known as EMEKA DMD will be clocking 40 on September 5th,2021.
The exceptional gospel music minister has been a blessing to the Nigerian Gospel Music Industry and he is best known for his unique style of praise and worship which is deeply rooted in Igbo Ariaria Praise and worship.
About Emeka DMD
EMEKA Anthony Igbonekwu is a Nigerian contemporary Christian, singer-songwriter, producer, businessman and recording artist, generally referred to as EMEKA DMD.
Emeka DMD was born in the early 80s into the family of Mr and Mrs Ferdinand Igbonekwu. Back then in Assemblies of God church Ugwunobankpa in Onitsha now known as SATELITE Assembly, Emeka started singing and playing the native drums in the children department.
Years later, he relocated to Lagos for a greener pasture and to answer his divine call in the music ministry. He joined the youth mass choir of Assemblies of God Lagos mainland district. Within that time in Lagos, he created a group called De Music Designers (DMD) with his friends.
According to EMEKA, “We were doing the Work of God by going round some churches as a band to minister without asking for much money because of the passion we had and still have for Gospel music.”
Over the years, Emeka DMD has grown to become a strong name in the Gospel music industry; having shared the same stage alongside some known gospel artists here in Nigeria and outside the country such as CHIOMA JESUS, Frank Edward, Sammie Okposo, Tim Godfery, Enkay, just to mention but a few.
Emeka DMD is from UMULOKPA in Uzo-uwani Local Government Area, Enugu state.
