The gospel singer, Blessing Akintunde, popularly known as IBK, has described gospel music as timeless and evergreen.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, she said, “Christian music propagates the gospel of Jesus Christ, and it never fades. Any song can become a hit today and by tomorrow, people are already listening to something else. On the other hand, gospel music is not a one-time wonder. It will consistently be a blessing for many generations. Gospel music should be getting more attention than it’s currently getting because it is the spirit and life of Jesus Christ that we are giving to people. That is priceless, and can never fade. Real gospel artistes go beyond just putting songs together; they actually set the mood for people to have an encounter with God.”
Speaking on working with another gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, on her new album, IBK said, “Mercy is a friend of mine, and she is a super amazing person. Collaborating with her was effortless. We did not even spend up to 30 minutes to record the song. Working with her was a great blessing, sincerely. She has a busy schedule, but she found time to come and record the song, which is now a blessing to many people.”
