Life asked Death “Why do people love me, but hate you?” Death responded, “Because you are a beautiful lie, and I’m a painful truth”. Is Death the obscure villain that carries any human being ever born on earth towards its isles? Or is it beautiful as Oscar Wilde paints it to be in his following words,“Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one’s head, and listen to silence, to have no yesterday, and no tomorrow.” Irrespective of all the viewpoints, the fact remains- death is inevitable. No scientist has ever been able to invent an elixir to defeat it. The sheer inevitability of death has put many people at unease.
A little spark can light up a wild fire and so is sin to death. Some of us are mere puppets helplessly dancing to the rhythm of sin ruling over us hooked into sexual impurity, shameful lusts, given over to a depraved mind, no love and no mercy , filled with wickedness and evil, greed and depravity, envy and murder, arrogance and pride. The venom of sin flowing in us will eventually dispense its full power by its final sting of death like a beast tearing apart its prey.
But… Death is beauty for those who have been rescued from the clutches of sin. They no longer fear death nor the judgement to follow. Because when the grey rain curtain of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass, they know that they will be on the shores of a far country where the sunlight never dims and joy never ends. And in that beautiful shore they will encounter Jesus, the only one who has defeated death in the history of mankind and who, through His amazing grace and everlasting love, made us heirs of God to dwell with Him forever and ever.
Is death the beast you fear or are you prepared to embrace it?
