Biodun Ajanaku a Christian recording artist has put out a musical homage to her hometown Lagos titled “Èko Nilé,”. Lagos is traditionally called Eko by the indigenous people. Heavy on African percussion, the jazz-flecked Highlife tune also preaches love, unity and solidarity amongst its residents.
Èko Nilé is a return to her roots. It’s a Yoruba phrase which means “Lagos is my Home”
“Home is a final place of rest where you are always welcomed no matter how long you have been gone” says Biodun “Home is where you remain a brother, an uncle to your siblings, and a child to your folks even when you are old and shaky” She Added “Lagos will forever be home where I belong wholeheartedly”
Speaking further, Biodun Ajanaku also added that; the new anthem is inspired by COWLSO which she currently belongs to, a community-based gender organization founded in 1974 by Mrs. Funmilayo Johnson, which exists to complement the effort of the Lagos State Government to promote child healthcare, empower women to discover their hidden treasures and protect our environment.
In 2016m Biodun teamed up with Obiora Obiwon to release Soul Cry
Produced by DejiKeys (Ayodeji Ojekunle).
