Nigerian gospel reggae legend, Buchi, celebrates his birthday today, 24th June, 2020. He turns 56 today.
The reggae star took to popular social media platform Instagram to express his excitement and gratitude for the gift of another year.
Here’s what he posted:
When I was much younger, I thought 56 was old. Now here I am, leaping over walls, running through troops, still able to climb all the mango trees.
Bwaiiiii! 56 feels good. .

BRIEF BIO OF BUCHI
Buchi Atuonwu was born on the 24th of June, 1964 in Kaduna, Northern Nigeria. he later moved to Lagos where he started out in music as a DJ at nightclubs.
Buchi started his education at Methodist College, Enugu and later Federal Governmennt College. He gained admission to University Of Lagos in 1983 to study English Language and Literary Studies.
He graduated with a BA and MA in 1986 and 1988 respectively.
He took up an appointment with the University of Lagos at the end of his program to lecture and run a PhD program. Buchi remained a staff member of the Department of English of the university until 1994.
Throughout his career, Buchi has recorded five studio albums including: “THESE DAYS”, “SO BEAUTIFUL”, “WHAT A LIFE”, “THE SOUND OF LIFE” and “OVER THE YEARS”.
Some of his most notable singles include “WHAT A MIGHTY GOD”, “IT IS WELL”, and “MMA MMA”.
