PASTOR ADEBOYE ON POLICE BRUTALITY

Nigerian pastor and internationally renowned evangelist, Pastor Enoch Adeboye in a tweet yesterday (Oct 14), spoke on the police brutality in Nigeria.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Adeboye, has lent his voice to the ongoing police brutality in the country.

The issue of police brutality is one which has plagued Nigeria for a number of years now, however the people have endured for all these years in the hopes that change would soon be effected.

In recent years, the increase in extrajudicial killings, kidnapping, robbery and other vices reportedly perpetrated by officers of the Police Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), has been alarming and concerned citizens have taken to protesting the menace.

Many churches had released statements showing solidarity and support to the cause and some individuals and groups have represented the Church at protest venues.

The most recent of these is Pastor Adeboye whose tweet showed solidarity to the cause. In the tweet he said:

Our daughters will not be able to prophesy and young men will not see visions if we don’t keep them alive.

I support the youths in this peaceful protest as they “speak up” to #EndPoliceBrutality#EndSARS#ENDSWAT

Simultaneously, a statement was released by the RCCG identifying with th the fight for justice for the victims of SARS killings and the demands for a change.
