Everyone wants a fairytale relationship…the only difference is that the picture differs from one individual to another. People enter relationships with a certain picture in their mind, whether they are aware of it or not. Then reality begins to set in and sometimes we are unhappy with how different it is from the picture in our heads. As long as the foundation of the relationship was right, and you have God’s approval in that relationship, don’t be too quick to throw in the towel. Here is where Persistence comes in. What is Persistence? Simply the fact of continuing in an opinion or course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.
Realize that it takes two to make a relationship work. You must be willing to put in the work to make it work. Sit down with your partner and discuss your values again. Learn how to agree to disagree. Compromise isn’t a bad thing as long as your core values aren’t being eroded. Choose to walk in love at all times. Let your words bring healing, do not tear down your partner. Put each other before yourselves. Pray, pray and pray again.
Honour your vows, keep your word no matter the distractions or temptations . Remind yourself of why you guys came together in the first place. Every relationship is an assignment not a destination. Find out what it is and keep it in mind. Be the one who always adds value. Sometimes, some relationships do not work, however let it not be out of negligence on your part. Live intentionally today.
