“And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.” (Luke 5: 2)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
When Jesus showed up at the Lake of Gennesaret, Peter and his fellow fishermen were done fishing and were washing their nets. Jesus didn’t begin by asking Peter to stop washing his net. He requested to use Peter’s ship to preach to the multitude. Jesus called Peter into a higher assignment, and thereafter gave him a miracle. Peter was lifted through an assignment. A divine assignment broke the cycle of fruitlessness for Peter.
Friend, sometimes it’s not about what you need to stop doing; it’s about what you need to start doing. Sometimes, your next level is tied to that new assignment that God has just given you; your increase might just be tied to that responsibility you have been given in the house of God; your open door might be tied to those prayers you are yet to start making; your next level might be tucked away in your God given assignment.
When a man finds his life’s assignment, results are inevitable. When a man finds his life’s assignment, what others struggle for come to him on a platter of gold. When a man finds his assignment, he breaks into new realms that were previously elusive. When a man finds his life’s assignment, distinction and relevance beckon. When a man finds his life’s assignment, he positions other men to also discover their life’s assignment.
Jesus simply opened a door of assignment, and it took care of Peter’s fruitless night. Today, I prophesy, may the Lord open that one door of assignment that will take care of several needs. May the Lord open that one door of service that will be an answer to several prayers you have made. May the Lord open that door of responsibility that will position you on a plane that is remarkably higher than where you have been.
Ask God to take you into that assignment that He designed for you. Ask God to send you to that assignment that will position you on the mountain of relevance and influence.
Ecclesiastes 9: 10 says: “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”
