The Story of Saint Valentine
This is a fascinating Valentine’s Day tale, A Christian priest named Saint Valentine lived in Rome in the third century AD.
Because Valentine felt that unmarried men were better soldiers. Emperor Claudius II had banned young men from getting married. Valentine persisted in performing covert marriages in spite of the emperor’s order. Valentine was arrested and imprisoned by Emperor Claudius II after he learned of this.
Valentine healed his jailer’s daughter and converted her and others to Christianity while he was imprisoned. Valentine signed a letter to the jailer’s daughter before his execution on February 14 with the words “From your Valentine,” which is where the modern phrase originates.

On February 14, approximately 270 AD, Saint Valentine was martyred. The Catholic Church declared him a saint, and February 14, his feast day, came to symbolize courtly romance and love.
