Make Me Your Own is the third release of the New Jersey-based husband-wife duo (Ben and Marla), Arrow & Ember. A&E combines lovely harmony with honest words and an intimate acoustic style. With this release, the duo moved out of the typical folk genre, incorporating pop and indie-rock aspects.
Their tendency towards moody minor-chord arrangements punctuated by rising vocals can be heard on the title track-a contemporary hymn expressing the religious truths of Psalm 23 and the parable of the prodigal. Also on this release, two classic songs–”How Great Thou Art” and “Near The Cross” –demonstrate the duo’s affection for the musical history of the church.
