“And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,” (Luke 5: 1)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
As the multitudes pressed towards Jesus to hear God’s word through Him, He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret. Jesus stood closer to the Lake as He got set to speak the word to the people. He would eventually get into the ship belonging to Peter, and thereafter He spoke the word to the people from that ship. He stood closer to what He needed in order to speak the word. He stood close to the place that had a thing to offer to His purpose.
Friend, glean some wisdom from Jesus: stand closer to the place of your purpose. Stay closer to places and people that have a thing to offer to your purpose. Stay closer to those who have been divinely empowered to make contributions to your destiny. Stay closer to the place of your destiny assignment and destiny fulfillment. Stay closer to the direction of your visions and dreams. Stay in the path of purpose.
It may have been attractive for Jesus to give some attention to whatever He was seeing around the Lake, but Jesus was too committed to purpose to allow Himself to be distracted. As you walk the path of purpose, beware of beautiful distractions. As you walk the path of purpose, be careful with people whose mission is to help you to take your eyes off the goal. Be careful about engagements, relationships, activities, etc that steal your purpose.
To be distracted from the place of purpose is to miss the mark of your high calling. To be distracted from your purpose is to lose your opportunity for relevance in both the short term and long term. To be distracted from your purpose is to make yourself a liability to the God that called you and created you for a purpose that must be fulfilled. To be distracted from your purpose is to beat the air, expecting results for punching the air.
No matter what it takes, stay on the path of God’s purpose for your life. Always remember why He raised you. Always remember what you were raised to fulfill. Always remember the difference between what will add value and what will reduce your value.
Isaiah 30: 21 says: “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”
Declare With Me: I stay focused; no more distractions, in Jesus’ name!
