3 Sins Christians Are Fine With Committing

People often say that ‘God doesn’t hate sinners, God hates sin’. I’ve found it incredibly comforting that God has the grace to forgive us when we ask for it. Even though we are imperfect people, he has extended a boundless amount of love and mercy towards us. With that being said, sin is a problem that must not be taken lightly.

Most Christian’s take sin very seriously and try their best to live a life that is pleasing to God. I’ve noticed during my years of being a Christian that some of us like to categorize sin in our minds. Sex before marriage, abortion, murder, pornography and homosexuality are seen as bigger sins than others. The consequences of those sins may bear greater weight in our lives, but the truth is that God sees all sin as the same. So what are some of the sins that we don’t take as seriously?

White Lies

You know the ones right? Telling your friend you’re 5 minutes away when really your 22 minutes and 37 seconds away. Or downloading a computer programme and clicking ‘yes’ when it asks you if you’ve read the 307 page terms and conditions. These actions may seem insignificant but we’re actually sinning.

Psalm 101:7  No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes.

Thank God for grace ?

Glottony

Ever been so full up that you can’t move? Ever been satisfied but gone for the extra piece of chicken anyway? Well, you could be potentially be sinning too. For a lot of us, weight is a seriously struggle and one that shouldn’t be disregarded, but if you’re just eating everything and anything, you could in fact be sinning. How can something that feels so right be so wrong? Well this is what is says in Proverbs.

Proverbs 23:20-21 Be not among drunkards or among gluttonous eaters of meat, for the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, and slumber will clothe them with rags.

Theft

We all know that stealing is something we shouldn’t partake in, but a lot of people forget that when they’re downloading music illegally, streaming a film on the internet, using adblock software, or choosing to travel via train stations they know have no barriers and inspectors. Whichever way you look at it, you’re stealing and it’s a sin.

Ephesians 4:28  Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.

With that being said, it’s worth mentioning that God is loving, forgiving, and kind so as long as we’re constantly asking for forgiveness for the sins we commit knowingly and unknowingly, and repenting, he is sure to exonerate us and help us move forward.
