Senior Pastor of Omega fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman has called for the Boycott of the online movie streaming giant, Netflix over a Brazilian comedy film by a YouTube group named “Portas Dos Fundos” meaning ‘Back Door’ for its depiction of Jesus Christ as a homosexual.
He made this statement in a social media post on his verified twitter handle saying;
“We have 2.5 billion Christians on earth, if Netflix goes ahead with this rubbish,we should boycott them.. that movie is evil, it’s not right and it will not stand”.
In another tweet on same day the 15 of December he called on Christian to delete the Netflix app and unfollow them on social media.
“Delete Netflix app on your system..unfollow them if you are a true Christian..The movie ‘gay Jesus’ is an insult to Christianity and abuse to our sensibilities..we stand to condemn it and all it stands for…Mad people…”
The film titled The First temptation of Christ is a 46 minutes Christmas special comedy special depicting Jesus as a gay man. Change.org has recorded over 1 million signatures on a petition calling for the removal of the film as many Christian believe its an aberration to the Christian faith.
The former media aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri also shared a tweet in he called on Netflix and liberals to stop taking Christian for granted, in his tweet he said
“The other day, a misguided woman used Scripture as an ashtray. Now, Netflix announces a film about a gay Jesus. Would they do that to the Quran? Do NOT take advantage of Christian’s tolerance. We choose non-violence. Not that we can’t be violent!”
In response the Christian outcry about the film, Netflix just referred people to the press statement of Portas Dos Fundos. In a press release, the group insisted;
“Porta dos Fundos values artistic freedom and humour through satire on the most diverse cultural themes of our society and believes that freedom of expression is an essential construction for a democratic country,” the group said.
The Netflix description for the film “The First Temptation of Christ” says that “Jesus, who’s hitting the big 3-0, brings a surprise guest to meet the family. A Christmas special so wrong, it must be from the comedians Porta dos Fundos.”
