Nigerian gospel artist and worship leader, Bukola Bekes, celebrates her 40th birthday today! She is one of the country’s most renowned worship leaders.
BRIEF BIO OF BUKOLA BEKES
Olubukunola Bekes is described to be an exceptional singer who hails from a music family.
She is a gospel music minister. She is a composer, writer, praise and worship leader and an extraordinary singer whose stage performance captivates her audience.
Bukola Bekes came from a humble beginning; she was born in Lagos State, Nigeria.
From her young age, she was dedicated to singing and sacrificed all her time to it. Bekes became a choir leader in her teenage years.
She led the choir of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and composed the majority of the songs for the choir, especially themes for the religious services, different conventions, and services.
She is one of the praise and worship leader of the City of David Parish, Lagos Province 4, (Apapa family Headquarters).
Bukola Bekes is married to Damilola Bekes, a Musician like her and they are blessed with two beautiful children.
Nowadays, she has become not only an influential gospel artiste, a talented composer, and songwriter but also a church leader in one of the churches of Lagos.
Her performances captivate people in the audience, who are absolutely fascinated with her wonderful voice and lyrics.
Currently , she is still a member of the choir that she sang in since she was a youngster – the Redeemed Christian Church of God Mass Choir.
She leads the choir during the monthly Holy Ghost services. She has also ministered at the Festival of Life, which is one of the biggest programmes held in London’s Excel Centre.
Bukola Bekes has ministered at various occasions, in Nigeria and abroad. She has also shared the stage with such prominent personalities as Pastor Kunle Ajayi, Brian Cage, Kirk Franklin, Ron Kennoly, Sammie Okposo, Mike Aremu, and many others.
She also has her own band which is called “Olubukunola Bekes and The Paradise Minstrels“.
Together with her band, she performs in Nigeria and all over Africa. Sometimes, Bukola is fondly referred to as “Olorikokoro”, which means “Master Key”.
