Gospel music singer and producer dies of Coronavirus

Tory Sneed

Known for his production on the uplifting song The Struggle Is Over, Grammy nominated American producer and singer Troy Sneed has passed away due to complications from the new coronavirus at 52.

The singer who released his first album Call Jesus under Malaco records in 1999 with the sophomore Bless That Wonderful Name in 2001. He joined the renowned Georgia Mass Choir as assistant minister of music after college and went on to arrange music on the choir’s albums as well as appearing with them in the 1996 Denzel Washington and Whitney Houston film; The Preacher’s Wife.

Tory Sneed also went on to have major success as a record label executive when he and his wife Emily founded the own label Emtro Gospel and signed Youth For Christ a young musical group comprising of 300 teenagers which Tory had created as an offshoot of Georgia Mass Choir. The group released The Struggle Is Over which featured Jonathan Nelson and was produced by Tory Sneed. The song became a major hit reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel singles charts and was nominated for a Soul Train Award. The album won a Stellar Award in 2007.
