Gospel Rapper Lacrae Contributes to Book 'What Did Jesus Ask 1

International Gospel hip-hop rapper Lecrae added to his writing resume on Tuesday with the release of What Did Jesus Ask?: Christian Leaders Reflect on His Questions of Faith, published by TIME Books.

“In What Did Jesus Ask?, 65 of today’s leading spiritual writers, thinkers and artists offer modern meditations on the questions that Jesus posed in the Bible to teach his followers how to think like a Christian and consider their personal faith,” the book description reads.

Lecrae who is well on his way to releasing his first book “Unashamed” joined a list of contributors that included Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Roma Downey, Mark Burnett, James Martin, Sarah Young, Barbara Taylor and Donald Wuerl. Elizabeth Dias edited What Did Jesus Ask? for TIME, which published Lecrae’s answer on Tuesday.

“As followers of Jesus, it is easy to feel that emotional connection to God and yet still not do what he says,” an excerpt of Lecrae’s contribution reads. “This is a good diagnostic question for any Christian to ask — at the end of the day, does my life reflect that I have embraced Jesus as the Lord of it? It is easy to want to hold on to our own lives. We want purpose, a sense of doing the right thing. ‘I’m cool with some of the Gospel stuff,’ we say, ‘but just not in certain areas of my life.’”

Lecrae’s contribution comes as the release date of his first book, Unashamed, approaches. It will drop on May 1, 2016.
