Budding UK based Nigerian Gospel artist Dr Udoka Obi popularly known as UD Obi is out with her highly anticipated song titled FATHER OF MERCY, accompanied by the lyric video.
Father of Mercy was inspired by how merciful our God and Father is, by sacrificing his son, Jesus Christ on the cross to pay the price for our sins. So even when we were still sinners, he showed us mercy. Many verses in the bible remind us of God’s mercy for us. The Bible relates mercy to love and forgiveness.
As Pope Francis writes in Misericordiae Vultus, “the mercy of God is not an abstract idea, but a concrete reality with which he reveals his love as of a father or a mother, moved to the very depths out of love for their child.
Psalm 103:12 assures us that as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. That means that our heavenly father never holds a grudge or brings up our past as he is a father of mercy. His words also in Matthew 11, 28-30 tells us to come to him and he will give us rest.
Following Christ frees us from carrying the burdens of our sins because he has already done that work for us.
Father of Mercy as song is a call for us all to return to God our father, who promises to all of us, a relationship based on forgiveness, compassion, love, reconciliation, truth and mercy.
