The World’s largest church building with 120K seating capacity, dubbed the “Hand of God” cathedral by Pastor David Ibiyeomie’s Salvation Ministries is near completion in Port Hacourt, Rivers State.
The building is called “Hand of God” due to its architectural design and is set to be the largest church building in the world, seating 120,000 people. Reports reaching us is that the roofing and plastering is already completed.
The building is poised to be dedicated in January 2022 at the first Glory Rain.
The new 120,000 capacity Salvation Ministries facility will double as the Headquarters of the Ministry as it comes with an Administrative Block. Currently, it is being reported that the roofing, expertly constructed by a Chinese firm has been completed as well asf the plastering of the auditorium. It is being dubbed “the Hand of God” because of its design which mimics the 5 fingers.
The edifice was said to initially be 40,000 capacity, but after a number of influencing circumstances, it was concluded at its current 120, 000 capacity standard, making it the current largest single church auditorium in the world on completion. The Cathedral is located at Igwuruta leading to Port Harcourt Airport in Rivers State.
Salvation ministries is one of the most notable in Nigeria, and one of the fastest growing churches in the world. With the new facility, it is also set to be the largest church with a single seating capacity in the world. The church is led by Pastor David Ibiyeomie who is a protégé of Bishop David Oyedepo.
In 2014, Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel had the largest seating capacity in the world with a total of 50,000 seated people in a service.
The Dunamis International Christian Centre, led by Dr. Paul Enenche (another protégé of Bishop David Oyedepo) completed the The Glory Domes in November 2018, taking over from Winners Chapel as the largest church auditorium with a seating capacity of 100,000.
Pastor David Ibiyeomie who celebrated his 59th birthday on Thursday, 21st October, 2021 no doubt has more reasons to celebrate. Adequately, this new Edifice makes Nigeria the country with the largest church buildings in the world!
