RAVI ZACHARIAS DIES AT 74

RAVI ZACHARIAS

Ravi Zacharias, popular televangelist and widely referred to as the Defender of Christianity, dies at 74 after briefly fighting cancer. He was an Indian-born Canadian-American Christian apologist. Zacharias was the author of more than 30 books revolving around Christianity, including the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association’s Gold Medallion Book Award winner Can Man Live Without God? in the category “theology and doctrine” and Christian bestsellers Light in the Shadow of Jihad and The Grand Weaver.

Zacharias was the founder and chairman of the board of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) and host of the radio programs Let My People Think and Just Thinking.

He died on Tuesday, 19th May, 2020, after announcing that he had been dealing with cancer.

Earlier this year, doctors discovered a malignant tumor on Zacharias’s sacrum as he underwent back surgery. He began receiving treatment for sarcoma at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

The ministry later announced on May 8, through social media, that the cancer was deemed untreatable and as such he had returned home to be with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, and their three children.
