In a press statement, the umbrella body covering gospel music ministers in Nigeria, FOGMMON has come out to correct the information making rounds in the media that the deceased music minister Michael Arowosaiye is a member of RCCG. According to the President of the body, the music minister is a member of The Shepherd’s House Church, Abuja not the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Below is the official statement

The Fellowship of Gospel Music Ministers of Nigeria (FOGMMON), the umbrella body for all gospel music ministers in Nigeria wishes to by this medium make a statement on the ongoing news all over the internet about the music minister who committed suicide out of economic frustration.

First, the National President, Prince Asu Ekiye called The Shepherd’s House Church, Abuja and confirmed that he was actually their member and not RCCG as popularly reported.

Meanwhile, we are aware he is not a member of FOGMMON, so there is not much we can do. If he was a member, the nation would have heard from us so radically and vociferously, even the church would have felt the heat.

However, we want to use this sad moment to reecho what our National President has always told us all, to stop this economic dependence on the church. It is a sad reality and we all must come to terms with this reality. The full text of the message by our President to all artistes on this matter is available on demand.

FOGMMON wishes to ask any of our members going through any form of emotional trauma to please share it with somebody. A problem shared is half solved, so they say, but you have to be careful to know who to share your problems with. Don’t bottle up your challenges. Let it not be heard that any FOGMMON member went through such harrowing and excruciating ordeal just as an escape route for some seemingly insurmountable crisis.

FOGMMON may not have the money currently to bail out anybody from most financial challenges, but not all problems are financial and some financial problems can even be solved without spending a dime, that’s why we are a fellowship, to stand for one another in time of need and to merge our various individual resources into a massive pool from where we can better the life of the average music minister.

While we commiserate with the family of the deceased, we urge our members to please stay safe and stay strong. There is hope.
