WALE ADENUGA CONDEMNS LAYCON'S REWARD BY OGUN STATE

Nigerian gospel musician and Christian music personality, Wale Adenuga, condemns reward of 2020 Big Brother Naija winner, Laycon, by Ogun state government.

The reality star Olamilekan Agbelesebioba, popularly known as “Laycon”, who recently emerged the winner of the just concluded Big Brother Naija, was honored by the Ogun State government with an ambassadorial title.

This announcement stirred a mix of comments and reactions from the general public. To this end, Wale Adenuga condemned the Ogun state government, on his social media.

He said in an Instagram post:

I’m totally disheartened by the Governor of Ogun state making the winner of #bbnaija an ambassador of the state, rewarding him further with cash and a house.

No thanks to you sir for further entrenching the sad narrative that we are a nation that rewards trivialities and mediocrity.

Our values keeps going to the dogs!

Post Script: I’ve had so many comments on this and that’s to be expected. People have taken exception to the term ‘dogs’.

This is an idiomatic expression and NOT the labeling of a person.

My apologies to you for misconstruing that figure of speech and definitely won’t come here labelling anyone a dog.

There were different responses and reactions to the post. Some, including gospel minister Nathaniel Bassey, were in support, while quite a number of many others were dissatisfied with and took exception to it.

Was it a justifiable statement? Was it right to condemn the Ogun State government in such manner? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
