The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is set to kick off its annual end of year gathering, The Holy Ghost Congress. This year’s theme is “It’s Time To Fly”.
The Holy Ghost Congress this year is slated to hold from Monday December 7th, to Friday December 11th 2020, and will feature ministrations by Pastor E.A. Adeboye as well as other men of God throughout the program.
Due to ongoing government provisions concerning public gatherings, the Congress will mostly take place virtually and will be broadcast to millions through Cable TV and through the internet.
The church has announced that by virtue of the aforementioned arrangements, the first four days of the program will be conducted virtually, with the fifth day, Friday, seeing the live attendance of a yet unspecified number of people. This would mark the first live program to hold at the Redemption Camp since March.
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE HOLY GHOST CONGRESS
The Holy Ghost Congress, noted as a program of prayers, salvation, signs, wonders and miracles, started on December 18th, 1998 at Lekki Beach near Lagos, the only place that could take that kind of crowd at the time.
It was an all night event with a miraculous turn out of millions of people, which the CNN reportedly estimated at over six million. Attendance at the Congress has since grown beyond imagination.
And that was partly responsible for the initiation of the historic Arena three-kilometre-by-three-kilometre- auditorium to seat about 12 millon people.
