Three Major Prayer Elements

Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Prayer is a significant element of who we Christians are; praying is our priestly ministry. Jesus said, “Men should pray always, and not be weak” (Luke 18:1). People often go through their lives ‘ difficulties and don’t know what to do. Not many people understand the correct way to pray. God advised us to pray because He intended to reply, not for the sake of praying. Furthermore, there are essential rules and components of prayer that would make your prayers more efficient if and when obviously understood and implemented.

One of the prayer elements is praying in Jesus ‘ name. Jesus gave us the authority of the attorney to use His name, which implies we stand in His place when we pray: “Whatever you ask of the Father in my name, He will give it to you” (John 16:23). You shall live in Jesus ‘ name; you shall operate in His location, with His power, and in His personality. What a reflection! Col. 3:17 says, “…whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks….” When you pray, it carries the same power and authority as though Jesus Himself were the one speaking.

The second significant aspect of prayer is that we believe in the power of God’s Word and the revelation and insight that God’s Word gives us. This implies that our faith must be based on what the Word of God says, because if the Word of God includes whatever we pray about, then we can be sure that we will receive responses because we ask in line with His Word. Faith is based on the Word. True faith is only imparted by the Word. Romans 10:17 declares that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word.

The third aspect is that we pray through the Holy Spirit’s authority. Some Christians pray and nothing happens because it is not the force of the Holy Spirit that inspires and communicates the words spoken. You have to pray always by the Holy Spirit; the words have to be energized, communicated, inspired, and anointed by the Holy Ghost. That’s what makes the difference.

When you study the Book of Acts, you’ll find that the apostles took advantage of these three elements of prayer: the Name of Jesus, the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. No wonder they had such extraordinary results, and a marvelous impact with the Gospel.
