You are Great by Steve Crown was not originally written and composed by him?

The now very popular song You Are great by Steve Crown was not composed and written by him says a source that identified himself as Godpower  Aghoghowa. According Mr Aghoghowa, who happened to be a member of the choir that first ministered that song in a conference tagged ‘’the Kingdom, the power and the glory’’ at a crusade organized by Chapel of Grace Church, Kaura namuda, in Zamfara state in 2013.  He further stated, that one Mr Bright Ukaegbu who was the Youth pastor and music director of the choir, is the original composer and writer of the song. He taught the choir the song as a special rendition for the above mentioned event and that Steve crown was part of the choir christened Grace Band.

They were all students of the Federal Polytechnic Kaura , though Steve Crown was on industrial attachment (IT) then, but frequents the school often and came in to be part the crusade. This song has since gone viral and is being sung all over the world yet, the world does not know who the original composer is.  Unfortunately the album cover did not also give any credit whatsoever to Mr bright Ukaegbu.

When we contacted the alleged composer of the song Mr Bright Ukaegbu, he confirmed the story, but informed us that he is not willing to dispute for the song since he gave Steve Crown verbal consent to record the song. According to him, Steve Crown called him up few days after the concert and told him that he was recording the song.

We asked if Steve has compensated him in any way. He said, No. But reiterated that since God gave him (Bright) the song and the song is blessing lives, it’s enough for him, it does not matter who it became popular through.  ”The song was an instant hit from the first day” He said, ”and i am not surprised that it has gone viral”.

We reached out to few other members of that choir of that church, and they collaborated the story. Efforts to reach Steve Crown’s and his management as concerning this story proved abortive. As his management refused to comment.

We give credit to Mr Collins of Proudlygospel.com who tipped us off on this story.
